Frequently asked questions

How do I play?

Duo Draw is a Pictionary-style party game. Each turn, the drawer picks one of three random words. They draw it on the inside screen while everyone else watches the drawing live on the back (outer) screen and shouts out guesses.

When someone guesses right, tap Got it! Then pass the phone to the next artist. You can also set your iPhone Duo down half-folded, like a laptop, and keep drawing.

Why does Duo Draw need the camera on iPhone Duo?

iOS only lets an app show content on iPhone Duo’s back screen while the camera is running. Duo Draw turns the camera on only during a turn, from picking a word through the reveal, so your drawing can appear on the back screen. The camera image stays on your device and is never uploaded.

If you declined camera access, you can turn it on in Settings → Duo Draw → Camera.

On other iPhone and iPad models, Duo Draw never uses the camera.

The back screen isn’t showing my drawing

Try these checks:

  • Make sure camera access is on: Settings → Duo Draw → Camera.
  • Make sure your iPhone Duo is open or half-folded.
  • Make sure the camera isn’t being used by another app or a FaceTime call.
  • Make sure a turn is in progress. The back screen is only on from picking a word through the reveal.
Can I play on a regular iPhone or iPad?

Yes. Duo Draw plays on any iPhone or iPad running iOS 27 or later, using one shared screen. The word stays hidden while you draw, so the guessers can watch the screen. When the drawer needs to check the word, they press and hold Hold to peek.

How do I set up teams or change the timer?

Open Setup from the home screen. Duo Draw uses free play by default; in Setup you can switch on teams (Red, Blue, Green and Purple) with scores and a target, and choose a timer of 30, 45, 60 or 90 seconds per turn.

Where do reaction recordings go?

When you choose to record the guessers’ reactions, the recording is saved to your Photos library. Duo Draw only asks for permission to add to Photos; it can’t read your library.

Does Duo Draw collect my data?

No. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking, and the app makes no network requests. Read the full privacy policy.
